Online Claim Status Inquiry & Beneficiary Eligibility

Claim Status Inquiry (CSI) Overview

What does Claim Status Inquiry mean to the supplier community?

Claim Status Inquiry (CSI) is a dynamic tool that allows the supplier community to electronically check the status of production claims after they have passed the front-end edits. Beneficiary Eligibility (BE) allows you to electronically obtain eligibility information on Medicare beneficiaries prior to claim submission.

How will this tool help suppliers?

Through CSI you can identify where a claim is in the processing cycle — paid, denied, or pending. Through BE you can benefit from establishing eligibility prior to claim submission.

Why should suppliers, large and small, sign up for this service?

CSI/BE system allows you and your approved staff access to eligibility and claim status information at your fingertips and on your own schedule. No more waiting for office hours, no more hold time, no more keying long strings of information on a telephone. CSI/BE allows easy access to the information you need to manage your business, without a lengthy and manual telephone call.

How do I sign up?

A gateway connection with a Network Service Vendor must first be established prior to your CSI/BE setup with CGS. The service provider of your choice will provide downloading instructions, a login ID, and a password to access the gateway via a dial-up phone number (modem) or an IP address to use via FTP (file transfer protocol). See the Network Service Providers listed below.
